Locating your home in a land-lease community involves a few less considerations such as utility connections since these communities offer many of the same services and conveniences that other planned developments offer. Retailers have information about these communities, and in many cases manage such areas themselves.
During your search, compare amenities, services, and the costs of rent, installation, and other miscellaneous charges.
Ask the following questions before you decide on a land-lease community:
* What are the terms and length of the written lease?
* What are the service charges for utility connections and other services?
* Can my home be installed by a specified professional, or does the community necessitate that it manage the installation?
* What will the installation charges entail?
* Who is responsible for garbage collection, street maintenance, mail delivery, ground maintenance, and snow removal?
* What are the community rules and regulations? For example, are pets allowed?
* If I sell my home, are there any special restrictions or requirements I should know about?
* How are changes in rent price handled?
* Is there a homeowner’s association?
* Are there limiting agreements?
