HomeTips.com is one of the Web's top home-improvement sites.  Started in a tree house office in 1996 by home-improvement author Don Vandervort, the site offers more than 2000 free expert articles on do-it-yourself home improvement, buying guides, illustrated home repairs, and much more. Now, more than a decade later, HomeTips serves more than 500,000 visitors each month and operates from "grown-up" offices in Glendale, California.

 

DON VANDERVORT, Founder & CEO

Don wrote his first home improvement book in the early 1970s and, since then, has authored, edited, or produced more than 30 books, including the 560-page Lowe's Complete Home Improvement & Repair, The Home Problem Solver (Perseus Books), Home Magazine's How Your House Works (Ballantine/Random House) and This Old House Complete Remodeling (Sunset).

Nationally recognized as a home improvement authority, Don was segment host on the Telly-award-winning HGTV show "The Fix," and has been featured as a home-improvement expert on Dan Rather's 48 Hours (CBS News), many segments of ABC Television's HOME show, and the HGTV shows "Help at Home" and "Working from Home." He was the home improvement guru on MSN.com for several years and has worked as a spokesperson for Proctor & Gamble and American Standard.


GABRIEL VANDERVORT, VP Advertising & Marketing

Gabriel joined HomeTips in 2002 and has been involved in most aspects of HomeTips's operations since then. His specialties include metrics analysis, ad implementation, and stragegic planning.

Formerly a writer/producer of shows for The History Channel, Gabriel is also an expert in ancient artifacts and antiquities. His own site, AncientResource.com, is one of the leading antiquities sites on the Web.

 

CHRISTIAN VANDERVORT, Art Director & New Media

Following his graduation from film school in 2006, Christian joined HomeTips and, since then, has lead major initiatives such as development of forums, video, site design, and new media efforts. He is involved in most aspects of business operations, stragetic planning, and site development. His primary skills include photography, cinematography, film editing, and graphic design.

For recreation, Christian is a pilot, scuba diver, and backpacker.

 

LOUISE DAMBERG, Content Editor

Louise is a seasoned editor who has worked with Don on book and content production for more than a decade. She is the Principal at Damberg Associates, which has contracted for HGTV and The New York Times Magazine Group. Her resume' includes: Director of Business Development at Knapp Communications; Managing Editor at Home Magazine; and Editor California Living/Sunday Magazine at Los Angeles Herald Examiner.

 

BRIAN SINGLETON, Business Development

Since 2008, Brian has been an integral part of the HomeTips team, helping guide the site's infrastructure build-out, traffic expansion, monetization, and much more. As an Analyst at Europlay Capital Advisors, Brian was integral to the development and IPOs of Intrinsic and New Motion.
