Engineered-Wood Flooring

Made by laminating a layer of hardwood onto a plywood strip, this product offers the warm look of natural wood but is much easier to install than a solid hardwood floor. Many wood species and stains are available.

The subfloor need not be very strong or very smooth. Most types are stapled onto the subfloor; some are floated over a sheet of underlayment. Cut the strips using a power miter saw. Engineered flooring comes with a durable polyurethane finish. It can be sanded only once.
