VIDEO: How to Clean an Air Conditioner |
Maintain your Central Air Conditioner
Cleaning a central air conditioner's outdoor compressor saves energy and reduces repair costs. First, turn off the power to the air conditioner unit. Then remove the compressor's grill and fan completely from the unit.
Scoop out all loose leaves and debris at the bottom of the unit. Clean the cooling fins on the outside of the compressor by using a hose with sprayer attachment to spray out from the inside of the unit.
Reattach the air conditioner fan and grill, and turn the power back on.
