Clean tile flooring using a damp mop. To scrub out stains, utilize a nylon scrubbing pad or a stiff scrub brush.
Stubborn stains on tiles can often be scrubbed out with a white cleansing powder; don't use cleaners that contain bleach, because these can bleach the grout. For cleaning grout, scrub with a toothbrush and household cleanser (chlorine-free). Test the cleanser first, in an inconspicuous place. Soap film and lime deposits can be taken off with household ammonia or a mixture of equal parts vinegar and water. Rinse and dry.
For stubborn dirt stains, you can buy commercial tile cleaners; be sure to follow the label directions. Never mix a tile cleaner that contains ammonia or acid with chlorine bleach--this mixture releases the chlorine as a poisonous gas.
