If a single burner on your electric cooktop doesn't heat properly:
1) Turn off the power.
2) Determine what type of burner you have.
3) If it's a plug-in, test the faulty burner in another receptacle. If it works, replace the original receptacle. If it doesn't work, replace the burner.
4) If it's a flip-up burner, disassemble and replace the faulty burner and any other faulty parts.
5) Restore power.
6) Test the burner. If it still doesn't work, call a repairperson.
